The first Vermentino produced in Guado al Tasso was in 1996. Guado al Tasso is located about 50 miles southwest of Florence near the medieval village of Bolgeri in the Upper Marema. The estate, about 2,500 acres, stretches from the Tyrrhenian coast to the hills inland. In addition to the 750 acres of vineyards, wheat, barley, oats and olives are grown.
Brilliant straw yellow in color, the wine's aromas are riper and more developed than usual with hints of citrus and herbs mingling with fruit sensations reminiscent of peaches and apricots. The flavours are spicy, persistent, fresh with a pleasant fruitiness in the finish and aftertaste.
